Synopsis

Upon waking up, Meng Ruo discovered she had been transported into a book. As the “spoiled brat” female supporting character, she was destined to be consumed by insane jealousy toward the female lead, cause endless trouble, and eventually meet a miserable end.

Meanwhile, the book’s protagonist—her stepsister, Zheng Wan—only had to wait for her family’s arrangements to secure a prestigious job, marry an honest, “good man,” and live an enviable, prosperous life.

Meng Ruo had just graduated when her stepmother arranged a marriage for her, desperate to marry her off as quickly as possible so she could bring her own biological daughter to live with them.

To Meng Ruo, this was perfect. She had been worrying about how to escape this household anyway. Between her hypocritical stepmother, her father who favored boys over girls, her spoiled younger brother, and the stepsister she was supposedly destined to envy, why wouldn’t she leave? If she didn’t marry, was she supposed to stay here and fight with them like a bunch of angry roosters?

It was the 1990s, an era of rapid economic development; she had plenty of opportunities to build a great life for herself.

Meng Ruo looked at her blind date, liked what she saw at first glance, and settled on a wedding date immediately.

What the stepmother didn’t tell Meng Ruo was that although the man was tall, handsome, and held a good job, he had a cold personality and a terrible reputation—Meng Ruo would surely suffer after marrying him.

What Meng Ruo didn’t tell her stepmother was that her new husband would eventually become a wealthy electronics tycoon. Her best days were yet to come.

Zheng Wan was reborn. She knew she was destined to live a happy, albeit ordinary and mundane, life. She also knew that in a few years, You Che would become the wealthiest man in the country.

She believed she didn’t have to do anything except wait for You Che to be rejected during his blind date, at which point he would become her suitor. This time, she would no longer follow her family’s arrangements; she was going to marry You Che and live the life of a wealthy socialite.

However, she waited and waited. Instead of You Che pursuing her, she received news of the celebration for the one-month anniversary of You Che’s child.
